Cryptocurrency data mining game
When Denis Rusinovich set up cryptocurrency mining company Maveric Group in Kazakhstan in , he thought he had hit the jackpot. Next door to China and Russia, the country had everything a Bitcoin miner could ask for: a cold climate, legions of old warehouses and factories where the mining rigs could be installed, and—especially—dirt cheap energy to power the electricity-guzzling process through which cryptocurrency is minted. Less than a year later, the initial buzz is history: Miners are now being confronted with frozen machines, popular unrest, and Russian troops roaming across the country. And leaving is not an option. Last week, chaos engulfed Kazakhstan as protests in the south of the country over a spike in fuel prices resulted in police repression, the removal of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev from his role as head of the security council, and an internet shutdown.

The Bitcoin mining mystery over Nintendo's Cooking Mama: Cookstar
All the industry, if not the entire world is talking about crypto-mining, and the value of Bitcoins. One of the benefactors of this explosive commodity market bubble has been the suppliers of add-in boards AIBs and subsequently the purveyors of GPUs.
Motherboard and power supply unit PSU suppliers have also benefited. AIB average selling prices ASPs prices in certain segments high-end and midrange have soared due to supply and demand, and a bit of price gouging in the channel.
Exciting stuff, but the tip of the iceberg so to speak. GPU segments. The chart is not scale — there were million PCs shipped in , and 2. Looking into the segments you can see it has been the high-end and midrange that have enjoyed the uplift from crypto mining. Are AMD and Nvidia charging more for their chips, kits, and boards? Although the chip makers are enjoying some of the uplift in prices, the supply chain is getting the majority of the gains.
But so far, and as long as there is an inflationary push on crypto currencies, there is sufficient payoff that people will participate. The original consumers of high-end AIBs were of course the gamers.
When that happens, depending upon the individuals, the AIBs will either be dumped in the landfill, or dumped on eBay. That will take sales away from the AIB supply chain for a quarter or two. However, there is another possibility and that is that the miners will offer their rigs as rendering farms.
That would give them extended utilization potential, and most likely drive down the price for farm rendering since supply will exceed demand. This week Ethereum and Bitcoin, as well as other eCoins were down. Not significantly, less than a percent, but swings of a percent in an over-charged highly volatile commodities market like that means swings of tens of thousands of U.
The unescapable irony of it all is that the crypto currencies, which are supposed to be outside of the traditional banking and currency systems are all based on the U. So, if crypto currencies succeed in being disrupters and replace conventional token exchange money, how will they be valued?
GPU segments Crypto mining is just a portion of just two segments in just one platform. Is crypto-mining the center of the universe? Squid Game crypto token collapses in apparent scam
Cryptocurrency miners seem to keep finding new avenues to get as much computer hardware as they want, even those that they can't actually hold in their hands. According to IGN , it's been confirmed that some hackers are slipping malware into free games they release into the internet to gain access to the hardware of unwitting gamers. Various reports also say that this isn't just a petty crime: a handful of these hackers seem to be making millions, too. The malware, called Crackonosh, is included in copies of these games and acts as some trojan horse that infiltrates a user's PC and takes control of certain aspects of it. Of course, the main purpose of this scam right now is cryptocurrency mining. The original report comes from the BBC , which says that the free games are being offered to users in certain forums online. The malware was first identified by a research team from Avast Antivirus, who reveals that thousands upon thousands of players in over a dozen countries have been affected. Around , users worldwide have had their systems infected, with around PCs falling victim to the scam every day, reports CNBC. The Avast team also indicates that the cryptocurrency being mined is one called "Moreno.

So You Think Bitcoin Mining is Wasteful?
The cryptocurrency was invented in by an unknown person or group of people using the name Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. Bitcoin has been criticized for its use in illegal transactions, the large amount of electricity and thus carbon footprint used by mining, price volatility , and thefts from exchanges. Some investors and economists have characterized it as a speculative bubble at various times.
The chip shortage is pitting bitcoin miners against gamers
In this paper, we create a game theoretic model in continuous time. We consider a dynamic game model of the bitcoin market, where miners or players use mining systems to mine bitcoin by investing electricity into the mining system. We propose three concepts of dynamic game theoretic solutions to the model: Social optimum , Nash equilibrium and myopic Nash equilibrium. For each successful attempt, miners get rewards in terms of bitcoin and transaction fees. Miners participate in mining voluntarily in exchange for rewards as income.
The first Layer 2 for NFTs on Ethereum
Bitcoin mining is the process by which new bitcoins are entered into circulation. It is also the way the network confirms new transactions and is a critical component of the blockchain ledger's maintenance and development. The first computer to find the solution to the problem receives the next block of bitcoins and the process begins again.

The reason for the change is to prevent games from scamming Steam users into buying fake items, which is what happened when the game Abstractism renamed itself Team Fortress 2 to sell a bogus rocket launcher. Valve apparently hopes to make these refunds automatic. In a statement to Kotaku , Valve explained it had "removed Abstractism and banned its developer from Steam for shipping unauthorised code, trolling, and scamming customers with deceptive in-game items". But according to Steam code shared by Reddit users , Valve has also taken steps to actively prevent fake item scams via the Steam marketplace. The code shows a pop-up will appear should players attempt to trade for items in a game they have never played, with a warning saying: "This trade appears suspicious".
