I am rating it right in the middle since the topic isn't defined enough. This is not a bitcoin mining app, it is a clicker game that is themed in "bitcoin". There's not much else to say about it except that its a pointless time waster, but some people are into mindlessly tapping their devices to watch a number scroll up higher and higher.

A single bitcoin transaction generates the same amount of electronic waste as throwing two iPhones in the bin, according to a new analysis by economists from the Dutch central bank and MIT. While the carbon footprint of bitcoin is well studied, less attention has been paid to the vast churn in computer hardware that the cryptocurrency incentivises. Specialised computer chips called ASICs are sold with no other purpose than to run the algorithms that secure the bitcoin network, a process called mining that rewards those who partake with bitcoin payouts. But because only the newest chips are power-efficient enough to mine profitably, effective miners need to constantly replace their ASICs with newer, more powerful ones. This number is comparable to the amount of small IT and telecommunication equipment waste produced by a country like the Netherlands.

We have found another interesting mobile-oriented crypto project called MIB Coin MIB where everything is done with a smartphone including mining of MIB coins, so we had to give it a try. MIB stands for Mobile Integrated Blockchain, a mobile blockchain where coins can be mined with a regular Android or iOS-based smartphone via a dedicated application. The project comes form Asia with apparently strong interest in Korea and China, and it seems that not that much interest from the rest of the world for the moment. The interesting thing here is that the mining can only be done on smartphone, unlike most other similar projects that may have a more efficient mobile miner, but can also be mined on CPU or even GPU with much higher speed, for MIB Coin there are only Android and Apple iPhone miners available. We have downloaded and tried the MIB Miner Android application, there is one also for Apple iOS smartphones with both not available on the official Application Stores, you need to download and install manually from the official MIB website. The miner itself requires you to register and generate a wallet address for mining, the mining part of the software is pretty basic and user friendly, no advanced options available.

A new study out this month in the journal Resources, Conservation and Recycling has come up with a methodology to estimate how much waste bitcoin, the market leader in crypto, generates each year. The researchers state that this is due to the short lifespan of bitcoin mining devices, such as the specialized ASIC computer chips whose sole purpose is to mine bitcoin. ASIC chips are constantly being replaced for newer, more power-efficient ones by miners, according to the Guardian , and are typically are only in use for 1. This, undoubtedly, leads to a whole lot of waste. In fact, the researchers put a number on it.
