Nvidia cripples RTX 3060 mining ahead of launch, but don’t expect miracles
In context: On top of the component shortage contributing to rising prices of graphics cards, crypto miners have further influenced the global shortage of GPUs by buying up all possible stock. One such variant has now become available for an eye-watering price. As spotted in Tom's Hardware, the card has gone up for sale at Vipera, a retailer in Dubai. The card combines a dual-slot design with a silver metallic shroud, as well as boasting a passive-cooling solution. Looking ahead, the popularity of cryptocurrency mining may continue increase due to Bitcoin prices recently reaching an all-time high.
However, those cards' limiter have been partially bypassed , resulting in mining performance being boosted to 70 percent. Meanwhile, AMD has denied that the firm is prioritizing selling cards to crypto miners over those wishing to purchase a GPU for gaming purposes, though that hasn't helped availability in any significant way. Console scalper says we should think about the young people making a good living from the practice.

Can NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 and CMP HX Keep Miners at Bay?
Instead, the company is launching a new CMP line for professional cryptocurrency mining. Nvidia says it's taking steps to make sure its GeForce RTX graphics card ends up in the hands of gamers. The RTX will be able to detect aspects of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm and limit its hash rate by around 50 percent, the company said in a blog post last week. This will make the GPU less efficient at mining the digital coin. And users are constantly discovering new applications for them, from weather simulation and gene sequencing to deep learning and robotics. Mining cryptocurrency is one of them. GPUs -- which are important for PC gaming , video editing and other graphics-intensive activities -- have been increasingly difficult to find in stock as the price of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum hit new highs.
Nvidia Hints at More GPU Mining Restrictions
With the extremely high demand for graphics cards and the current mining boom, Gigabyte has announced its CMP 30HX dedicated crypto mining card. The feature that has attracted the most attention to this card is not related to its performance or specifications, however. Most traditional graphics cards typically offer a warranty of at least three years. Given the stresses and heavy loads that these cards are put under when mining, it comes as no surprise that Gigabyte cannot promise a longer warranty period to its customers. However, depending on where you are from, local laws and regulations could work in your favor and offer an extended protection period. Gigabyte is banking on a few special components to help with longevity, though. The card includes composite heat-pipe, as well as a Windforce 2X cooling system with two 90mm blades in alternate rotation. Nonetheless, it would be interesting to see what this upcoming series of mining cards has in store for us later this year. Share Tweet Pin Share.

Nvidia CMP 170HX: the best graphics card to mine Ethereum is available at 3800 €
The first of these is the CMP 30HX from Gigabyte that features the mining configured GPU along with custom dual-fan cooling which should deliver optimized thermals when running it in a mining farm. For instance, CMP lacks display outputs, which improves airflow while mining so they can be more densely packed. CMPs also have a lower peak core voltage and frequency, which improves mining power efficiency. Designed for professional mining operations. Optimized for best mining performance. Cash on Delivery.
NVIDIA’s CMP 170HX GPU is a $5000 card capable of playing any AAA game in the market with ease
These were apparently being smuggled so they could be put into use at mining farms there. While the reason for the action isn't clearly stated anywhere, it may be a result of the recent efforts by the Hong Kong government to ban unauthorized cryptocurrency trading and use at retail. Back in February, Nvidia launched these dedicated CMP HX mining cards to satisfy the needs of Ethereum miners, among others, so they may leave the gaming graphics cards to gamers. From a driver inspection, it was found that the CMP HX series of cards is actually based on last-gen Turing architecture with modifications made that prevent them from running graphics workloads. However, last month, the company had inadvertently released an internal developer driver which removed the 's hash rate limiter. The driver has since been pulled. Source: mydrivers.
Nvidia CMP 30HX mining card by Gigabyte launches with only a three-month warranty
With new graphics cards unavailable for purchase at their list price months after launch, gamers are unsurprisingly a bit touchy about just where all of AMD and Nvidia's new GPUs are ending up. Nvidia partner Zotac suffered backlash yesterday after posting an image of their graphics cards with the caption " an army of GPUs hungry for coin ", implying they were destined for cryptocurrency miners rather than gamers. It's perhaps with this kind of attitude in mind that Nvidia has made a big announcement regarding their upcoming RTX graphics cards. So here's the rub: the RTX 's performance will be artificially limited when performing cryptocurrency mining, with Nvidia stating that the card will limit its hash rate by approximately 50 per cent.
They also remain virtually silent while spinning under load, keeping your graphics card cool during intense and lengthy sessions. Stay stealthy with Airflow Control that improves airflow dynamics. The copper heat pipes with a smooth squared shape at the bottom maximize heat transfer from the GPU. Not all circuit boards are created equal.
Nvidia has always sought to innovate with every generation of its increasingly powerful graphics cards, with newer and boundary-pushing features being added to new GPUs year after year. Cryptocurrency seems to be the talk of the hour recently, as miners can be found consistently scalping out a big chunk of available series GPUs to make more cash. This has resulted in more and more GPUs being snatched away from gamers' hands, and Nvidia has recently devised a solution to the problem with its series of dedicated CMP graphics cards. Nvidia has recently introduced a CMP HX line of products, which are graphics cards aimed at professional miners. However, these CMP cards are geared towards crypto mining specifically, and thus have a few key differences. The most important one is that these are "headless" cards, which means that they don't feature output ports. Nvidia has also claimed that these cards would feature more airflow than the gaming cards, which would then allow these graphics cards to be densely packed in a mining rig without much performance loss.
And the good news for gamers and all graphics devs, is that NVIDIA will limit the mining performance of regular GeForce cards at the graphics driver level. There is a secure handshake between the driver, the RTX silicon, and the BIOS firmware that prevents removal of the hash rate limiter. We are gamers, through and through.
Bravo, what excellent answer.
