Bitcoin will catch up and fix the problems it has, albeit at a slow pace, but once that happens all these alt coin day traders will flock back into BTC and there will be a second wave.
Also lets not forget that in order to trade these alt coins you need to get into BTC first The market doesnt care about the technological merits!
People are looking for quick cash. Once BTC releases the lightning network and the high fees and slow processing times are fixed, all the money that left BTC will come flowing back in. These alt coins only exist because they can, for the time being, transact cheaply and more efficiently than BTC. But once Bitcoin fixes these issues and can do the same thing, its brand and scale will remove the need for any alt coin's existence.
That is why I am happy to sit on my hordes of BTC while the kids are having fun on the alt coin playground. They will be back soon!
