While that is a worthy goal, SAP needs to embrace how to support both non-IT and IT clients with rapid process redesign, if it is to stand any chance of reclaiming former glories that are long-distant memories in today's high-octane environment. The German software giant has an IT-centric view of the world, where instead we need technology and business to come together to become fluent in understanding the data they need to be effective in their markets. To create this data, processes need to be designed to deliver data at speed, and these need to be automated in the cloud to keep their enterprises functioning. Once processes are flowing beautifully in the cloud, you can deploy all sorts of ML and AI tools to gather increasing amounts of intelligence to anticipate your own needs - and your customers - ahead of time. Until a decade ago, SAP was, perhaps, the most significant brand and voice in enterprise technology. Then came the digital juggernauts of Microsoft, Amazon, and Google to ratchet the world of enterprise technology into a very different place, where data is king and it doesn't matter how unstructured it is. But those days faded away after as the cloud took over the core processes in smart enterprises.

Focus on the right potentials: Accelerate process modelling, simplify process analysis and create an overview of all optimization projects in the process landscape. With Symbio, our customers establish a business company map where all business views are united and related. We like to compare it to Google Maps — Symbio is the platform where the map of the city is created. For example, the streets represent processes, the signs represent standards and guidelines, the IT applications represent different services in a city. In order to visualize the movements in the business company map and thus in the company the city , we combine process mining analysis as one component. This will show the movement data in the map and the process congestion as well as the circumvention of rules will become transparent. Thus, the Google maps for companies is created. All employees benefit from this, as they can see on a daily basis which paths they should take in order to reach their destination as quickly and safely as possible. The result of the process mining analysis is transferred into a documented actual process using gateways.

The best SAP apps & add-ons of 2016: Process Mining

Map your business processes to adapt better and streamline your business processes for the future. It is sometimes difficult and complex to organize activities and determine a process within the organization, as it appears. The processes that make up these activities often branch into a complicated business process involving more than one additional activity. At this point, process mining has become more important than ever for companies to discover, analyze and improve bottlenecks or inefficient operating organizational structures. Process mining is used for strategies designed by companies to increase productivity, such as displaying how many different processes and variances are progressing, monitoring the losses experienced in the steps involved in the process, determining the differences and suitability between the automation in the process and the ideal process designed. In parallel with rapidly changing technological developments and variables, companies are changing and developing their processes and organizational structures according to todays conditions.

Celonis believes that every company can unlock its full execution capacity.

The German startup Signavio is working in the field of process mining, and SAP is expected to have to shell out roughly 1 billion euros for it. Experts suspect that SAP has mined in the wrong place. The world market leader in process mining is Celonis and not Signavio, but even their headquarters clearly show why SAP chose the latter. Signavio is based in Potsdam near Berlin, Germany. However, the company is currently very successful, so it is not for sale yet.

Celonis has made its name as a process discovery company, helping companies understand the way work flows through its systems to expose inefficiencies, but up until now the company has left it to others to solve those problems. Today it announced the first products that help companies improve those workflows automatically. Alexander Rinke, founder and CEO at Celonis, says customers have been asking the company to go beyond process discovery to something that really helps solve the problems and bottlenecks they were finding. To that end, the company acquired Banyas last year to give it a way to connect to internal ERP systems more easily, as they were thinking about how to create some process improvement automation apps.
