Radeon rx 580 for mining ethereum

This is one of the top models of RX from Sapphire that comes with higher factory clocks compared to most other RX GPUs and some nice additional extras such as spare fans. The extra power connector is needed due to the higher clocks and increased power consumption, however it can be a problem for miners willing to connect 6 of these cards with a single power supply. The GPU clock is running perfectly fine at MHz and allows for some extra overclock to about MHz, though not much higher than that. The higher GPU clock comes with increased operating voltage of about 1. Unfortunately Sapphire has opted to go for Hynix memory for this series and as a result you can expect not the best performance in memory intensive mining algorithms such as Ethash used by Ethereum or Equihash used by Zcash.

Radeon RX 580 – mining and tuning the card for optimal mining: Hard Facts!

Mining is literally going insane! This has led to explosive growth in those markets. Something many of you asked me how to do after my latest mining rig build. But it takes some more technical know how. Get it here. One thing I would like to point out to people.

You can use your existing gaming PC to mine, or you can put second GPU in your computer and dedicate it to mining. This assumes you are mining on Windows. Patching the drivers is not required for Simple Mining OS. So make sure you have one those cards before beginning.

Go to the AMD support website and get the driver package specific for your card. In the latest set of drivers, the mining enhancements are included in the main set of drivers. Only connect one card at a time when performing the BIOS update. This will save you a lot of frustration.

Right-click the ATWinflash. ATIWinflash and and click save. Under the TIMING section, copy the value in to the box so that the values in both boxes are the same the original value of Then click Program. This will take about 1 minute and then ask you to reboot your PC. Do not reboot yet. Before you click the reboot button you need to patch your AMD drivers.

Then click yes to patch your drivers. Once it completes you may press yes to reboot from the previous step. Skip this step. The most important settings are cclock , clock , cvddc , mvddc These overclock and undervolt your cards. Mike is the founder of The Geek Pub. Mike has created all kinds of projects that you can follow and build yourself, from a retro arcade cabinet to plantation shutters for your home. My Timing section on Polaris is a mess, nothing like: ……… What do I do please? Not too shabby for a card that costs so little. Why would anyone pay 2X the price for a ti for 7 or 8 more hashes??? Check your memory in GPU-Z. I suspect you have Hynix. If so you need to copy to and also. I have bunch of weird numbers. Please advice how to fix my problem, so I can follow the BIOS change tutorial I will email you attachment if you wish to help.

I found the AMD setting to put all the cards into compute mode. Also checked my memory, I have 1 Samsung and 3 Micron. I did not export a stock bios for every card, I just flashed the Modded ROM from the first card to all of the cards. Was that a mistake? Some success.

Appears you have to re-run the driver patch when moving from on-board to the riser. This got 3 of my cards back to The Micro cards appear to get better memory timings from the factory so they would do The samsung card runs just a shade under 30 now that it is actually modded.

Any help is appreciated! After the modifications my cards just get one extra MHs from 17Mhs to 18 Mhs. I have two 6x MSI Armor rigs and found them to be finicky at times. If they come up at lower speeds I generally get them back to 30 Mhs by running the driver patcher, restoring, then repatching.

This is assuming you followed the flashing steps correctly. Also since I did the bios modding procedure here there us a newer version of the bios editor that automatically detects your memory type and make the correct changes. It has to reboot the software each time so it takes a while to do it for 6 cards.

First of all — thank you! Where should it be? Depends on the game, your monitor, and a lot of other things. But most likely you will experience some problems. Must have got lucky with my Sapphire Cards cause they both sing at Thank you also for the card specs!

Rig is running smoother, cooler, and faster…. I was getting 9. I cant find where the problem is. Why is the hashrate so low. It was 9. What could I check? Thank you! I found a way. Been getting I have tried several variations of this. I am using nanominer on nanopool. What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Hey everytime I flash the bios with new rom card just stops working. I do everything according to your advice.

Any ideas? I have msi rxs with samsung memory. Hi Fla, I cannot reach more than 25Mh with this card, did you only do what is suggested on this post?

Could you maybe send me your bios please? However now i wanted to make a rig of some leftover parts lying around at home with the same Sapphire Nitro RX 8GB that i used pretty successfully back in Can somebody give me some advice regarding right OS version, drivers and miner to get at least 32mh? Check your memory speed. It is the key. But I just use Mhz, I want to keep the lifetime of my card. No need for bios mod. I have several Sapphire rx SE 8gb.

Currently running approximately mhs each. Cards are modded. Using Hiveos Linux with Phoenix Miner latest version. Claymore only good with Ethos back in when I once used. Set OC in separate settings depending what type of memory you have on that particular card. Hynix mem got the best hash rate so far. Previous Building a Mining Rig. About The Author. Related Posts. NBMiner, the mining software, has recently released an update. Continue Reading. The hashrate for ETH mining has been increased from 50 percent to percent, which is a significant increase. Fully compatible with Nicehash. Upon first mining tests, it seems that the card would immediately start with a lower has Recently bought a brand new RTX Ti lhr dual. It appears each GPU is stable from the lock state at different LHR unlock and finding that so it doesn't go into lock state is the hard part. It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons! Theoretically impossible. I was messing around last year on some s and was getting 57mhs max but its not effective, didnt even post about it haha. It was "doing it" as you can tell I ran for 16hours there..

They are one of the most affordable graphics cards for mining. Cryptocurrencies, unlike traditional currencies, do not have centralized authorities to handle payments. But even basic tasks like ledger management and transaction verification needs someone to do. In the case of cryptocurrencies, this task is also decentralized. There are special nodes that handle these tasks.

There are 2 versions of with different amount of memory. If you have with 4Gb memory, you are not able to mine coins that are highlighted in red. The energy expenses are not taken into account in the calculation. The GPU hashrate corresponds to optimal overclocking parameters. To maximize hash rate you are probably going to need to configure additional settings. First, make sure that the GPU driver you are using supports mining. Next step is to choose an optimal GPU overclocking value to maximize hash rate and keep energy consumption at an acceptable level.

As we reported yesterday, hardware OEMs are paying closer attention to the needs of consumers who partake in cryptocurrency mining. As of late, Ethereum , a new form of currency similar to Bitcoin , has been a hot topic. Mitch Steves, an RBC Capital analyst, recently pitted two mainstream GPUs against each other to see how they compare when it comes to cryptocurrency mining. His analysis determined that while the Radeon RX offered just over a 3 percent performance advantage in mining Ethereum or Bitcoin and the estimated yearly dollars made via mining, the GeForce GTX actually resulted in much lower running costs due to a power efficiency advantage.
