Caravaggio (Michelangelo Merisi)
Artemisia Gentileschi and Her Contemporaries. VTB Bank is the general sponsor of the exhibition. The National Museum of Capodimonte boasts one of the largest collections of art, specifically European art, in Italy. The museum is located in a former palace previously owned by the Bourbons, surrounded by the famous Royal Park in the estate of Capodimonte.
The Palace Museum collection includes artworks dating back to the 13thth centuries, ancient Roman sculptures, and modern art. The three paintings selected for the exhibition are rightfully considered gems of the Capodimonte Museum collection. Neapolitan art was greatly influenced by two visits of Caravaggio in — and — That resulted in the emergence of a bright and revolutionary concept in painting — Neapolitan naturalism.
Caravaggio did not have any apprentices, but his innovative ideas still spread quickly among painters in Italy and abroad. Having formed a new movement, they were later identified as Caravaggesque, or tenebrist painters. Each of the paintings presented at the exhibition bears, in one way or another, a stamp of the new Caravaggesque style.
At the same time, they reflect different aesthetics that co-existed at the time, exposing a variety of trends that pervaded Italian painting of the Baroque age aside from Caravaggesque and Academic styles. She was 20 when she painted it. Her father, Orazio Gentileschi, was a notable tenebrist, so from her early days Artemisia literally lived among art.
During her lifetime she tried different styles and techniques while remaining true to her own artistic individuality. Bringing together paintings from the Capodimonte Museum and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, this exhibition highlights a number of pivotal moments in the evolution of Italian painting in the 17th century, as well as specific features in the personal styles of Baroque painters.
It is a kind of introduction to another significant project that will bring a larger selection from the riches of the National Museum of Capodimonte to Russia in We appreciate the support of the Embassy of Italy in Moscow in the preparation of this exhibition.

Caravaggio Napoli – The Brand New Exhibition At The Capodimonte Museum Of Naples
Visiting it is more than an obligation for all art lovers visiting Naples thanks to its beautiful collections that contain works of the highest international importance. Once on the first floor of the building, rooms 2 to 30 house this collection. Once past this room, the next one is entirely dedicated to the small Crucifixion by Masaccio; which, however, is not part of the Farnese collection, but is a purchase of by a private individual to the museum as a work of an unknown fifteenth century and only later considered the central compartment of the Polyptych of Pisa that Masaccio had made for the church of Carmine in the capital of Pisa, then divided into several pieces kept in other museums around the world. In room 4 there are four charcoal drawings: two by Michelangelo Buonarroti, one by Raphael and one by Giovan Francesco Penni, a pupil of the latter; the drawings belonged to the historian and humanist Fulvio Orsini, and were later inherited by the Farnese family. To complete the room there are some marble busts from the Roman era. The following rooms contain Lombard, Flemish and Germanic works. The work Landscape with the nymph Egeria by Claude Lorrain is very beautiful.

Starting from the month of April there will be an unmissable exhibition on Caravaggio al Museum of Capodimonte which, for the first time, will focus on works created by the great Michelangelo Merisi during his Neapolitan stay , probably the most intense period of his entire artistic production. The exhibition will be open to visitors from 12 April to 14 July. A unique event in the national scene that already ranks among the most anticipated exhibitions of spring , in a city like Naples that already hosts, and that will host in the coming months, major artistic events such as the exhibition of Escher at the Pan , That of Chagall at the Basilica della Pietrasanta and that on Canova at the National Archaeological Museum. The exhibition Caravaggio in Naples was announced in recent days by the director of the Museum of Capodimonte Sylvain Bellenger during an interview with The Republic. He stressed the importance of an exhibition dedicated to Caravaggio in our city after well 15 years of absence. A Caravaggio itinerary will follow through the city: the places where he lived and attended, that of his studio, the one that welcomed him when he arrived as a refugee in a new country with different laws. The last exhibition on Caravaggio in Naples was in , in these 15 years there have been many innovations and also our vision of Caravaggio has changed: the one focused on prostitutes and the boys of Rome is now preferred that of the drama that follows the episode of the murder in duel by Merisi of Ranuccio Tomassoni ". The novelty of the exhibition on Caravaggio set up at the Capodimonte Museum is the special focus on the works performed by Michelangelo Merisi in his two Neapolitan stays.

Museums To Visit In Italy
I paint them to remind myself of the magic of the balance that governs the entire universe. This incredible rebel artist spent about 18 months in Naples between and until his death in Porto Ercole on the journey back to Rome: a blissful encounter with the Neapolitan lively local art scene definitely marked the path of Caravaggio and his future artistic creations. The duality and the harmonious coexistence of light and shadow that reflected in a way his impulsive personality and unconventional style together with the intense rendering of passion in all Neapolitan paintings still identifies today, more than at other times, the poetry of the Lombard artist. The exhibition project includes the reconstruction of a documented route, through the city, of the places that Caravaggio attended and where he lived further deepening the bond of this unique painter with the territory and his incisive impact on the artists of the Neapolitan School and the famous Neapolitan naturalism. Flesh and Blood will feature nearly forty masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, one of the most important fine arts collections in Italy. The scene contrasts the unleashed violence of the persecutors and the peaceful resignation of the suffering Christ. Lee, director of the Kimbell Art Museum. We are thrilled that between March 1 and June 14, Kimbell visitors will have the rare opportunity to view two distinctly different paintings by the Italian master—one the Flagellation in the special exhibition and the other the Cardsharps in our own permanent collection. In his Flagellation , conceived as a sacred altarpiece, Caravaggio depicts an emotional and tense human moment of impending brutality. The Flagellation of Christ features only four figures and a single column: its simplicity concentrates its emotional power. The de Franchis family commissioned The Flagellation of Christ as an altarpiece for their chapel in the Church of SanDomenico Maggiore in Naples property of the Fondo Edifici di Culto del Ministero degli Interni , where it was on view for more than years.
I borrow bodies and objects. I paint them to remind myself of the magic of the balance that governs the entire universe. In this magic, my soul reverberates to the one sound that leads me to God.
It should be said - rough mistake.
