However, it now seems Twitter, founder by bitcoin maxi, Jack Dorsey, will be providing internet users the chance to receive payment in crypto — atleast the two most valuable ones. In the thread that followed the leak, Paluzzi said he used reverse engineering to effectively enable the feature on his phone. While the feature is inactive and unusable, Paluzzi could still see what the system will look like.
In the MacRumors report , it is indicated that Twitter will use Strike to facilitate instant and near feeless Bitcoin transfers via the lightning network.
Those who would like to use the system would simply need to connect their Strike accounts. Another idea was a tipping system, on which Twitter has now followed through. Tip Jar will be available on Android and iOS, although the company said the feature during the testing phase will apply only to select accounts using the English language. Those people will be working in some capacity as creators, journalists, experts or in nonprofits.

Popular microblogging platform Twitter might support cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum for Twitter's Tip Jar. The platform is reportedly working on letting creators accept cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum as a tip for the content they make. While the feature was spotted by a reverse engineer, who tweeted a couple of screenshots on Twitter, Twitter's Product Lead retweeted and surprised everyone. Keep reading to know more about the upcoming Tip Jar feature. Alessandro Paluzzi, the reverse engineer and mobile developer who discovered the feature, tweeted a screenshot on September 1, , which contains information about the new feature on Twitter. The screenshot has a headline saying "Receive tips in Bitcoin," followed by general information such as that Bitcoin is the world's first widely adopted cryptocurrency.
Ethereum Could Soon Be the Next Crypto Added to Twitter’s Tip Jar
The feature is reportedly under development and was spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who shared screenshots of what it will look like when it launches. Another screenshot shows that users will be able to collect tips in both Bitcoin and Ethereum and the platform will allow them to add their respective addresses to their profile. The screenshot also shows that Twitter is using Strike for Bitcoin payments. Strike is a payments application that uses Bitcoin and blockchain technology for payments on a global scale.
Currently, only accounts on iOS can accept Tips, but with Android support will come soon Twitter said. Followers of these creators will be able to tip them to show appreciation for their content developed, by sending them money via a third-party funds transfer service. Twitter said that they take no cut from these Tips. To accept bitcoin Tips, Strike , a Bitcoin wallet app that runs on the Lightning Network protocol, is used. This allows creators to charge followers who are willing to pay, a monthly subscription charge for access to an extra level of content like behind-the-scenes thoughts and private conversations. After testing, Twitter is rolling out its Tips feature on iOS, allowing users to also tip creators in Bitcoin via Strike.
