Because OTC trading is done off of cryptocurrency exchanges, it is therefore often left out of the conversation when it comes to global trading volume figures. One of the signature features of blockchain is that it is maintained across more than one computer. The ledger can be public or private permissioned.
Over-the-counter OTC refers to the process of how securities are traded via a broker-dealer network as opposed to on a centralized exchange. Over-the-counter trading can involve equities, debt instruments, and derivatives , which are financial contracts that derive their value from an underlying asset such as a commodity. Instead, these securities can be traded over-the-counter. However, over-the-counter trading can include equities that are listed on exchanges and stocks that are not listed.
The frenzied buying and selling of cryptocurrencies remain unstoppable — and the hype will likely grow even further as several futures-based Bitcoin ETFs have come to life. The SEC had been hesitant to approve Bitcoin ETFs prior to that — in July there were said to be as many as 13 applications waiting for the regulator's blessing.
