Logout Register. How to mine bitcoin? Wed Aug 27, am How can I mine bitcoin with just a raspberry pi and not a separate usb bitcoin miner? This is for a school project and speed does not mater. I am a noob when it comes to mining bitcoin or mining any thing for that matter so can you the pi community give my simple instructions for mining bitcoin. A computer's power can't be just measured Gigahertz. It is the same thing with us humans. Re: How to mine bitcoin?

Wed Aug 27, am Speed does matter. As it stands now you will end up running some bit coin mining program on your Pi. You will then be watching in run. For hours, days, weeks, months, years and nothing will happen! This is not a lot of fun. Wed Aug 27, am Bitcoin miners will not run on the measly specs of the pi. Most rely on the video card, which is fairly bad. Even if you can get one for ARM, there is no point But if it's for a school project bing something like 'raspberry pi bitcoin miner' or 'arm bitcoin miner'.
The only thing making me believe it's a school project is your spelling. Put aside the fact that it is making money, which technically isn't allowed in schools if I am correct , what's the point? It doesn't matter how slow the pi is, he's talking about usb miners. And if it's for school, it doesn't matter how slow it is anyway. But yes, google has this topic covered very well.

And consider a small collection of PI's is a good start with a minimum of 32GB SD cards need at least 20GB for working on a complete bitcoin block , that all report their earnings to a central Pi with a webpage for displaying the earnings to viewers of the project.
