Logout Register. How to mine bitcoin? Wed Aug 27, am How can I mine bitcoin with just a raspberry pi and not a separate usb bitcoin miner? This is for a school project and speed does not mater. I am a noob when it comes to mining bitcoin or mining any thing for that matter so can you the pi community give my simple instructions for mining bitcoin. A computer's power can't be just measured Gigahertz. It is the same thing with us humans. Re: How to mine bitcoin?
Wed Aug 27, am google. Wed Aug 27, am rpiswag wrote: How can I mine bitcoin with just a raspberry pi and not a separate usb bitcoin miner? Take what I advise as advice not the utopian holy grail, and it is gratis!! Wed Aug 27, am you cannot in any meaningful way please learn how to google.
Wed Aug 27, am Speed does matter. As it stands now you will end up running some bit coin mining program on your Pi. You will then be watching in run. For hours, days, weeks, months, years and nothing will happen! This is not a lot of fun. Wed Aug 27, am Bitcoin miners will not run on the measly specs of the pi. Most rely on the video card, which is fairly bad. Even if you can get one for ARM, there is no point But if it's for a school project bing something like 'raspberry pi bitcoin miner' or 'arm bitcoin miner'.
The only thing making me believe it's a school project is your spelling. Put aside the fact that it is making money, which technically isn't allowed in schools if I am correct , what's the point? This space is reserved for something actually useful, and will probably never be filled. Wed Aug 27, am There's no need to be rude.
It doesn't matter how slow the pi is, he's talking about usb miners. And if it's for school, it doesn't matter how slow it is anyway. But yes, google has this topic covered very well.
Wed Aug 27, am I sit corrected. Wed Aug 27, am This started off with a School Project, yes using the Pi as a teaching tool, and it has descended into WW3 and off-topic! Wed Aug 27, am I thank you and this is a school project. My school allows stock trading projects not just bitcoin.
Wed Aug 27, am This project is not about speed it is about education. Our school has just added a coding class. I am a student not a teacher.
What other platform or board should I use? Last edited by rpiswag on Wed Aug 27, am, edited 1 time in total. Wed Aug 27, am rpiswag wrote: I thank you and this is a school project. Wed Aug 27, am Again it is not about speed and making money this is about education.
Wed Aug 27, am I think you get the same educational value out of it whether you do it on a pi or a regular pc. However, this is the raspberry pi forum so Wed Aug 27, am That is what I was thinking.
I also uses less power for the same educational value! Wed Aug 27, am rpiswag wrote: That is what I was thinking. Wed Sep 02, pm I would suggest to be sure you use the high-end RPI 2's at least, or any number of variants like the BananaPi. These got a bit more 'horsepower' for your needs. And consider a small collection of PI's is a good start with a minimum of 32GB SD cards need at least 20GB for working on a complete bitcoin block , that all report their earnings to a central Pi with a webpage for displaying the earnings to viewers of the project.

As reported by RIA Novosti, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, Vladimir Gutenev stated that mining operations in the country can continue legally provided strict regulation and controls are implemented by the state. In order to achieve this, Gutenev said that cryptocurrency mining farms must operate transparently, pay their taxes in their entirety, and operate in an environmentally friendly region. The MP said that Russia could have a surrogate financial product like a gold denominated stablecoin that would in all respects be controlled by the state government.
