What is the best crypto to mine in 2022?
Want to know more about how to build a mining rig? Mining cryptocurrencies is one of the many ways to earn cryptocurrency. Bitcoin was one of the first coins you could mine but these days their hundreds if not thousands of new cryptocurrencies you can mine.
So for this guide, we want to cover the steps in building your very own mining rig. Not only will you learn how to build one but also what mining hardware you should use too. However, it is always best to determine what your mining profitability will be first before ever attempting such a task. Before ever attempting to build a mining rig its always best to figure out what your electric rates are first. The fact is that the mining rigs do consume a fair amount of electricity which can eat into your mining profits.
However, keep in mind that the crypto markets are extremely volatile and change daily. Therefore you should consider starting small and get a feel for it by not investing more money than you can afford to lose.
We state this to not disenchant you from pursuing mining cryptocurrencies yet as a fair warning to not put your financials at harm. Below is a list of common parts that you will need to build a GPU mining rig.
Making sure you get the right part will ensure you get your rig running promptly and efficiently. Obviously, the plan is to get the best deals possible when it comes to buying mining hardware but going with the cheapest on some parts is not always the wisest if you wish to have a stable running rig. The motherboard you choose will have an impact on what CPU you get and Ram as well. Be sure to research what form factor your motherboard supports before settling on your Ram and CPU. If you need help choosing a mining motherboard then use this guide.
As stated earlier once you have the motherboard picked out you can then choose a CPU that is compatible. For most mining rigs the best route to go is with the Celeron or Pentium processors. The only way I would personally recommend going with a more costly CPU is if you were building a cross-functional gaming mining rig. Be sure to check out our guide to learn more about the best GPUs to use for mining.
The big question is does RAM matter and to what extent? Check out our guide to see what brands I like to use for most of my builds. When it comes to choosing the right disk space it again all boils down to what operating system your planning on using. The most popular and affordable brands I use are Kingston and SanDisk.
Check out our guide. Mining Risers are the least expensive component to building a mining rig but there not the least important. Mining Risers also the number one reason why mining rigs crash as this component is known for going faulty quite frequently.
See our guide to learn about which mining risers we prefer. The power supply is another critical piece to building a mining rig as its responsible for supplying power to all the major components to any computer. When choosing a PSU its important to buy one that has more than enough wattage to supply the GPUs with enough power to mine efficiently. The size that you need will ultimately depend on the quantity and model of GPU your planning to use to build your rig.
Read our guide on power supplies for mining cryptocurrency. Some are more efficient than others. This component will make up the bulk of the cost associated with building a mining rig as GPUs can range from anywhere from dollars to on upwards of dollars USD.
If you are in the market of buying GPUs to use for mining be sure to check out my guide on best GPUs for mining using the link down in the description. Check out our guide on the best GPUs for mining in You can build one custom or buy one. To be clear there are a lot of ways you go about choosing a mining rig frame. See our guide on how to build your own frame and some of the best ones to purchase. The first step to building any mining rig is to install the CPU on the motherboard.
A few things to note on this step are to be careful to not touch the bottom part of the CPU or any of the pins on the motherboard. Also, make sure you line the markings on the CPU up with the markings on the motherboard. Furthermore, be careful not to touch the thermal paste on the CPU fan and make sure you lock in and secure the fan properly. Additionally, make sure to plug the 4-pin fan cable into the proper 4-pin port on the motherboard.
Up next is to install the RAM to the motherboard. Up next is to attach the motherboard to the frame. Again this step is pretty straightforward but there few things to caution. Also, make sure to use at least 5 screws to ensure the motherboard is properly secure the frame. Installing the power supply is another simple step to achieve. Also, you will want to attach the 8-pin CPU cable and pin cable to the power supply and then attach them to the proper ports on the motherboard.
Doing this can be done by powering on the rig and pressing the delete button continuously while the system boots up. Once inside the BIOS menu, there will be a few settings you will need to adjust. Please note that the settings you will need to adjust will vary depending on the motherboard you choose.
Make sure to research which settings you will need to tweak in the BIOS to ensure your rigs run properly. If you need some help then join our private FB group and well do our best to help you with this step. When it comes to installing windows 10 there are a few ways you can go about this. For starters, you could buy a licensed copy online from amazon. Or you could download a free version of windows 10 and flash it to a thumb drive to create a bootable disk.
We recommend going with the free version to save on costs. Make sure to watch our mining rig build video on this step to get windows 10 installed properly. Once windows 10 is installed and fully updated theirs some settings you will need to adjust.
The first one is to make sure to adjust the power settings to ensure the rig never turns off or goes in hibernation mode. Other settings include adjust virtual memory and disabling windows defender so you can run mining programs without interruptions. Again please refer to out mining rig build video for more help on this what setting to adjust. Now that you have the operating system installed its time to install the first GPU. From here make sure that the riser is attached to one of the PCIe lanes on the motherboard and then attach one pin SATA cable from the power supply to the riser itself.
However, you will want to make sure you have the latest driver installed for your particular GPU. Once the drivers are installed you can download mining software to run a test on the GPU to ensure everything is working properly. This step may seem complicated but again please refer to our mining rig video for further instructions. So your basically just repeating the process in Step 8.
Again make sure to check all the cables to ensure their properly secure. Also, be sure to not overload your pin SATA connections with more than two connections per cable. Once the rest of the GPU is installed you may need to reinstall the drivers. Sometimes this is not the case but in some cases, you may need to uninstall the drivers with a software called DDU.
You can check the make sure the drivers are properly installed by right-clicking on the windows icon in the bottom left corner of your screen. Then go to the device manager and click on display adapters. If all cards are recognized then you good to go to the next step.
However, if you have yellow caution symbols next to them or not all the cards are being recognized by the device manager then you going to have to wipe the drivers clean and reinstall new drivers. Once you have the GPU installed and properly seated with drivers you can begin overclocking them. Overclocking allows you to optimize your GPU for max mining performance and power consumption.
To do this you will need software like MSI afterburner installed on your mining rig. This will allow making an adjustment to the power and core and memory clock settings.
This will vary greatly depending on the GPU being used and the coin you want to mine. Again please refer to our mining rig build video to get further details but keep in mind that you will need to find your own settings based on the hardware you use and coin your planning to mine. If you need help then you can always join our FB group for support. Once you have the overclock setting adjusted you can begin mining.
However, you will need to adjust your mining software so that the coins you mine are going into your wallet. In our example, we used Claymore 15 which allows you to mine any Ethash coin available.
However, the nice thing about building a GPU mining rig is the fact you can mine a wide variety of coins. Sites like whattomine can provide insight into what coins might best to mine for the hardware you choose. This concludes our guide on how to build a mining rig. What Is Crypto Mining? How Cryptocurrency Mining Works
China's ban on cryptocurrency mining has forced bitcoin entrepreneurs to flee overseas. Many are heading to Texas, which is quickly becoming the next global cryptocurrency capital. When China announced a crackdown on bitcoin mining and trading in May, Kevin Pan, CEO of Chinese cryptocurrency mining company Poolin, got on a flight the next day to leave the country. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Poolin is the second largest bitcoin mining network in the world, with most of its operations in mainland China. Now China's "bitcoin refugees" are urgently scrambling to find a new home, whether in neighbouring Kazakhstan, Russia or North America, because for bitcoin miners, time is literally money.
Nvidia's potentially having another crack at its unhackable RTX 3060 mining limiter
Nearly nine months ago, the RTX series of Nvidia graphics cards launched in a beleaguered world as a seeming ray of hope. Nvidia built these cards upon the proprietary successes of the RTX series and added sheer, every-API-imaginable rasterization power on top. Talk about a fun potential purchase for nerds trapped in the house. As I wrote in September RTX 's impact on the market will hopefully push the average GPU value proposition into reasonable territory. At the time, I was too busy running benchmarks to ask my crystal ball about an imminent future of exploding crypto values and diminishing chip and silicon supplies. The graphics card market went kablooie, and that left me holding the bag of a ridiculous claim about future GPU prices.
How to Mine Monero: Detailed XMR Mining Guide
At its peak, cryptocurrency mining was an arms race that led to increased demand for graphics processing units GPUs. Despite the increased demand for GPUs, thecrypto mining gold rush quickly came to an end, as the difficulty of mining top cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin increased just as quickly. Mining cryptocurrencies, however, can still be profitable. So, what is crypto mining, is it legal, and how can you get started?

GPU Cracking: Rebuilding the Box
One of the critical points during this period of high demand for graphics cards is that a portion of them are being purchased by professional users looking to mine cryptocurrencies. These professional miners buy graphics card by the pallet load, sometimes bypassing retailers and going direct to distributors, as they can guarantee a complete shipment sale in one go. The knock on effect is fewer cards available for gamers looking to build new systems, leading to empty shelves and causing prices to spike for the handful of cards that ever make it to retailers. In order to at least offer a fig leaf to gamers, in the past certain graphics board partners started producing mining-only graphics cards. These had no graphical outputs, making them almost impossible for gaming use cases, but it filtered off some of the mining market into buying those rather than taking stock away from shelves for gamers. One of the key drivers as to why the new graphics cards are being sold is because they are so good at doing the mining operations for various cryptocurrencies namely for Ethereum and other derived coins and earning the users a semblance of return on their purchase. For the upcoming RTX , the software drivers for this graphics card will automatically limit cryptocoin hashing rates to half — making how much they can earn specifically halved.
As the crypto industry has ballooned, so too has cryptocurrency mining. With new altcoins emerging, and original coins such as ethereum ETH and bitcoin BTC rising to jaw-dropping values, crypto enthusiasts have plenty of options. Be they individuals looking to earn some extra income by mining an up-and-coming altcoin, or large companies dedicated to mining bitcoin, tens of thousands of people across the world have become involved in the industry. Mining forms the very backbone of blockchain technology.
