I've got to know, what's your farm's power footprint look like? I love repurposing hardware though. The CPU doesn't support bitfield, so it takes longer to plot and temp folders need GB of free space. Total investment, technically zero. What brand of router are you using? Have you checked your inbound and outbound firewall logs? Did you disable upnp in the Chia client? I think the way to go is:. Don't run Chia on any other computer without upnp disabled which is tricky as it's on by default. If you want to be safe, consider disabling upnp on the router. Maybe you don't want it off all the time but at least you can figure out if it is causing problems.

I've basically done all of this except disabling upnp on my router as I'm only running Chia on one computer. When you say synced you mean where it goes green and says synced right? I can reboot my plotter VM and it syncs in less than 5 minutes. I am running pf-sense as a router on a tiny computer, nothing super fast and I sync quickly.

I have a raspberry pi with 4 4tb drives each with a samba share. I will switch to this "server" when my dell nas fills up. They are running on a different circuit. Responsive as hell when chia isn't running but not much throughput. And the entire machine is actually really sluggish since chia is pounding on the OS drive and using all of those 3gbps. I also have 4 x 10k 72GB drives that I set up in a RAID0 array but they were no quicker than the 15k drives on their own so I've removed them as I don't have the cables to run it all!

It isn't as fast as an nvme but considering they were just layin around, I am pretty happy. The r with the stripe does about 8 plots per day. I am running swar plot manager and have it set to only run three plots in phase 1 with a 1 hour delay. I will bump that up to 4 in phase 1 to see if I get any benefit or loss. I can get hrs seconds on rpm Sata so this seems off I'm about to buy 15k sas should be faster not slower right?

I'll re-check the timings. Yeah but SAS drives are much, much slower, and you still need to hook them up. Unless you have a disk shelf with empty slots you'll still need SAS ports and cabling to drive them, which pushes up the cost significantly.

Then there's the power consumption too. My setup is similar to this. This is the way to do it and how it was meant to be Use cobbled together parts that otherwise would go to waste or unused.
