Poet blockchain
Proof of Elapsed Time PoET is one of these consensus mechanisms, designed to improve upon proof of work consensus and provide a fresh alternative for permissioned blockchain networks. PoET was developed by chip manufacturing giant Intel back in as an efficient consensus mechanism primarily for permissioned blockchain networks. Before understanding how the overall consensus of PoET works, it is essential to understand a little bit about how SGX functions. SGX is a sophisticated technology, but at its core, it is effectively a set of instructions for a CPU that is used by applications to isolate specific, trusted regions of code and data.

Proof of Elapsed Time (PoET)
Intel describes Sawtooth Lake as a highly modular platform for building, deploying, and running distributed ledgers. The key components for a distributed ledger are as follows:.
According to Dan, Sawtooth Lake heavily emphasizes the distributed aspect in distributed ledger technology as well as modularity. To achieve this, Sawtooth Lake makes use of the following features:.
While Sawtooth Lake allows for pluggable consensus, the project does have its own method for consensus available—PoET. Based on the Nakamoto consensus algorithm, PoET achieves distributed consensus through a lottery function with several characteristics:. PoET uses a trusted execution environment like Intel Software Guard Extensions SGX to ensure the safety and randomness of the leader election process without requiring the costly investment of power and specialized hardware.
Intel claims that this algorithm scales to thousands of participants and will run efficiently on any Intel processor that supports SGX. Sawtooth Lake makes use of transaction families to encapsulate business logic. According to the presentation, a transaction family can be either:. Sawtooth Lake allows these concepts to coexist in the same instance of the blockchain.
The choice is up to the developer. While Intel expects its users to build custom transaction families to cater to individual requirements of their ledgers, Sawtooth Lake does provide three transaction families sufficient for building, testing, and deploying a marketplace for digital assets.
Sawtooth Lakes architecture segregates transaction payload definition, validation, and state management logic from the core system. Sawtooth Lake has been a part of the Hyperledger Project incubation since last year. Since then, a number proofs of concept have undergone development. One such application is the Marketplace Navigator , which is a browser-based GUI designed to allow users to inspect blocks and to create marketplace transactions.
Intel has a more comprehensive guide to Sawtooth Lake for anyone interested to learn the more technical aspects of the project. Additionally, Dan will be leading a Sawtooth Lake webinar on March 7, Stay tuned! The rest of the presentations can be seen in the following video:. Carlo Gutierrez is a Technical Writer at Altoros. A language of transactions that change the ledger state. A protocol used to build consensus among participants around which transactions will be accepted by the ledger. What makes it different? Based on the Nakamoto consensus algorithm, PoET achieves distributed consensus through a lottery function with several characteristics: Fairness. The function should distribute leader election across the broadest possible population of participants.
The cost of controlling the leader election process should be proportional to the value gained from it. It should be relatively simple for all participants to verify that the leader was legitimately selected. Table of contents What is Sawtooth Lake? What makes Sawtooth Lake different?
Can Sawtooth Lake integrate with different blockchain technologies? He joined Intel in to work on emerging web and distributed systems technologies. His early accomplishments include optimizations of matching engines for major stock exchanges and multi-tier system designs at a variety of financial institutions.

The blockchain has a great vogue in recent years, and its core consensus algorithms also become the focus of research. At present, most of the research on consensus mechanisms are oriented to the public blockchain and based on existing consensus mechanisms or sophisticated distributed algorithms. Various application scenarios have been developed based on the consortium blockchain, while few researchers pay attention to customize consistency algorithms. Moreover, there is a trade-off between security and performance in designing consensus mechanisms. We propose a novel consensus algorithm called proof of vote PoV , where the distributed nodes controlled by consortium members could reach consensus and come to a decentralized arbitration by voting. PoV separates the voting rights and bookkeeping rights with the essential idea of establishing different security identities for network nodes. Contrary to the third-party intermediary or uncontrollable public awareness, the production and verification of PoV blocks are decided by the voting results among the core consortium members. We theoretically prove that PoV blocks can reach transaction finality by only one confirmation. Compared with the total traffic complexity of BFT-based consensus, PoV has just that of O 3 N c , which is a great improvement when the number of nodes is over

Hyperledger’s Sawtooth Lake Bets on Modular Blockchains and Elapsed-Time Consensus
The concept of blockchain, widely known as virtual currencies, saw a massive surge in popularity in recent times. As far as the security of the blockchain is concerned, consensus algorithms play a vital role in the blockchain. Research has been done separately, or comparisons between a few of them have been presented previously. In this paper, we have discussed widely used consensus algorithms in the blockchain. For each consensus, we have reviewed the properties, applications, and performance in the blockchain.

Welcome to Poetry 4. The first edition launched in June and sold out overnight. The much-anticipated release of the second collection is a multimedia compendium of meta-verse that redraws the boundaries of poetry, publishing, and art. All works are one-of-a-kind collectible tokens—minted fully on-chain through a collective deployed smart contract. Conceived by Artchick and created in collaboration with a diverse international group of multimedia writers, artists, creative technologists, and developers, Etherpoems empowers poets and builds community among literary-minded creatives in the crypto space. Leveraging cutting-edge technology in both the creative process and the back-end, and infused with poetic soul and the spirit of artistic innovation, Etherpoems represent an exciting new chapter in literature. As a collectively deployed contract , all proceeds from claimed Etherpoems and royalties from secondary sales are split among contributors trustlessly through blockchain technology—a revolutionary publishing model.

Blockchain is a decentralized distributed network that offers higher transparency, security, and immutability. We all know that!! But, have you ever wondered how it is able to achieve all this? Who governs this network and verifies every transaction, provided there is no centralized authority? The simplest answer to what is Blockchain consensus algorithm is that, it is a procedure via which all the peers of a Blockchain network r each a c ommon acceptance or consensus about the real-time state of the distributed ledger. A consensus mechanism enables the blockchain network to attain reliability and build a level of trust between different nodes, while ensuring security in the environment.
