Yet again Galway have been handed a relatively low-key opener, having started their campaigns against Antrim, Laois, and Westmeath in recent years. But with Henry Shefflin sending a team out in Salthill for the first time, the turnstiles operators should be kept busy ahead of a 2pm throw-in. Shefflin restored some household names to the starting 15 last time out against Antrim, and his starting team for this encounter will be a hot topic for debate, given that 43 players saw game time during the Walsh Cup, including 17 debutants. While experimentation with young and upcoming players was welcome, quite how many of those newcomers will now make the cut and put their name forward for more relevant action in the coming weeks remains to be seen, especially given the shocking collapse against Dublin, who claimed the trophy with another dominant display against Wexford last weekend. With Shane Cooney and Jason Flynn now confirmed as long-term absentees due to injury, and plenty of squad members still involved in Fitzgibbon Cup action with GMIT and NUIG, Shefflin will more than likely have to mix and match his starting line-ups over the next few weeks.

Galway GAA Fixtures – UPDATED
Photograph: Sportsfile. Their paths may cross tomorrow. At that time he was on the books of AFL club Collingwood, for whom he made senior appearances. As such his feat resonated in Melbourne. Although he went back afterwards, a year later he decided that he had had enough and wanted to discontinue his career in Australia.
Counterintuitively, his sporting reconnection has been with the county hurlers and not the footballers. No stranger to hurling in the county, Meyler managed Kerry to a rare championship win in when they beat Waterford. He had also been in touch with him as senior hurling manager before being signed by Collingwood in I remember when John Meyler was there as well, as the manager, I was speaking to him.
That was just before I went to Australia. It was kind of an emerging talent [group] they had coming through there. They had a few players coming through and I was kind of asked into that.
Cork and Kilkenny dominate the junior grade. Between them they have 14 All-Irelands, the Leinster county leading the way with nine. Curiously, though, there have been six finals between the champions of Cork and Kilkenny, and the former lead the head-to-head The most recent final in saw Conahy Shamrocks defeat Russell Rovers.
The intermediate final is completely different. It pits Kilmoyley against Naas — only the third time the finalists have both come from counties outside Division One. It is also a first for Kerry and Kildare clubs. Meyler says that when he asked what the club was most looking forward to, the answer was seeing the club name on a Croke Park dressingroom door and up on the scoreboard.
Colin was with Tipp minors football and hurling and U English won an All-Ireland at U with Tipp. He has decided, however, to go with intercounty hurling this season. I still have a load of work to do to get myself up to senior intercounty level and I am doing a lot of work with the senior hurling at the moment as well.
Hopefully when April comes it will be top notch. Looking back on his couple of years away, Keane says that he definitely benefited from the experience.
I feel like I know how to manage my body a lot better playing sport, what to eat, when to do the gym, around fitness and what kind of running has to be done to be ready to peak come the right time. I want to be remembered for other things: playing AFL, playing Cork hurling and playing Cork football, helping Ballygiblin get to an All-Ireland final and hopefully getting Mitchelstown to another county final this year.

The Allianz League is back in full swing now as we got to see some stellar inter-county play and some shock results. There's a bucket-load of fixtures this weekend so here are just five GAA fixtures we think will be the best watch. The club season is beginning to wrap up with the All-Ireland Championships this weekend and next weekend and there isn't a much more interesting tie that the Intermediate hurling final. No side from either Kerry or Kildare have won a hurling title at this level so it will be great to see history be made this Saturday.
With the strong winds dictating a lot of the play. But both teams adapted well and really got into the swing of things. Mooncoin drew first blood and went 1 nil up after 20 minutes , an Ella Bailey clearance up the line , was taken in By Casey Moore who travelled up the line , getting a pass away To Emily Blackmore who rounded a Villa defender and took a shot finishing to the back of the Net. Villa quickly reacted and played some very good attacking football, But A very Solid Ciara O Keeffe stood in their way , and did an amazing job clearing any advancing threats. Ten minutes to go Villa got a break and looked to be heading for an eagerly awaited equaliser, But a quick thinking Sadhbh Kirwan came off the Goal Line and extinguished the chance. With Five on the Clock , Aoibhe rees won a ball in the middle of the pitch , laying it off to Sommer Grant , before making the run towards the bottom corner , Sommer took it forwards before laying it back to Aoibhe , Who crossed the ball across the face of goal after Spotting Emily Blackmore , who finished to the net. Villa pulled a goal back with a couple if minutes on the Clock.
