Blockchain Digital ID: Hypersign ($HID), DizmeID ($ALGO) etc...

There are many Crypto based Digital ID's, but are they really different? It it seems they are mostly running on the W3C DID verifiable credential (Hyperledger/Sovrin). What are we missing here?
