The decision by authorities in #Kazakhstan to shut down the #internet in the wake of intensifying political unrest took some 15 percent of the world's entire #Bitcoin mining capacity offline, sending its price tumbling. Kazakhstan is the world's second-largest Bitcoin mining location. Cryptocurrencies have also been hit by recent central bank plans to reduce cash injections and raise interest rates.
