Nationwide power outages have struck major cities across the central Asian nations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan today. While the cause of the outage is being reported as a "load imbalance" it appears to be related to Kazakhstan's recent announcement that they would but cutting off the power supply to bitcoin and cryptocurrency miners in the country. Did Kazakhstan grid operators just crash their own system?
