Simple History of Money and Blockchain

Published
Before money people transacted for centuries by exchanging things of value. some of the earliest pieces of written word are records of such transactions. One of the fundamental problems of transactions is how to store the information and confirm that they happened indeed. Banks took these responsibilities helping people transact faster and over longer distances. This came with some disadvantages as well like bank fees.
Inhabitants of the Yap islands traditionally transacted by exchanging huge stones for goods without even moving the stone - by recording the transaction in the tribal memory.
Is blockchain technology the answer to finally having a reliable record of transactions? Apart for the mania for cryptos in the recent years how does this technology help people in the long run?
